What to Expect

Our doctor will first examine the scar to determine whether it is a keloid and whether injection treatment is suitable.

For suitable patients, a small amount of corticosteroid medication is injected directly into the keloid scar. The procedure is generally quick and can be performed in the clinic.

Keloid treatment usually requires more than one treatment session, and the degree of improvement varies from person to person. Keloids can also recur even after successful treatment.

Temporary discomfort at the injection site may occur. Other possible side effects include skin thinning, changes in skin colour or visible small blood vessels around the treated area.
